OLIVETE
Max Olivete, nasceu em 1985 no Rio de Janeiro, cidade onde vive e trabalha. É mestre em Linguagens Visuais no PPGAV-UFRJ.
O trabalho do artista transita por entre o caos que encontramos em qualquer subúrbio de metrópoles de países em desenvolvimento. E consegue nos trazer de maneira pictórica elementos que muitas vezes passam despercebidos diante de toda a correria, violência e agitação que estão presentes nessas áreas da cidade.
E ele os trata de maneira muito singular utilizando a fuligem como elemento de destaque dentro de sua paleta.
Max nos convida através de suas obras a realizarmos um “Flanar Suburbano“ diferente do conceito proposto por W. Benjamim, onde o flanêur é alguém que se entorpece ao admirar o belo e as novidades que vieram a reboque do modernismo.
Não há tempo pra flanar no subúrbio, o passo é apressado, atento ao entorno, no possível tropeço na calçada, na moto que vem com 2 ou na Blazer maquinada...
Mas apesar de todo esse movimento que por vezes pode ser atordoante, as obras de Max nos mostram caminhos tal como um Stalker de Tarkovski, por entre os gatos de energia ou fios que transpassam os trilhos do trem.
EN Max Olivete lives and works in Rio de Janeiro where he was born, in 1985. He pursued a BA in Painting at EBA-UFRJ and he is attending a master’s degree course in Visual Languages in the PPGAV-UFRJ program.
The artist's work moves through the chaos founded in metropolis suburbs from developing countries. It brings, in a pictorial way, elements that often go unnoticed in the face of all the rush, violence, and agitation that are present in these areas of the city.
The painter treats the aforementioned elements in a very unique way using soot as a highlighting element within his color palette. Through his works, Max invites to create a “Suburban Flaneur”, different from the concept proposed by W. Benjamin where the flanêur is someone who gets numb when admiring the beauty and the novelties that came in the wake of modernism.
There is no time for the "classic flaneur" in the suburbs where the pace is hasty, attentive to the surroundings, with the lurking possibility of a trip on the broken sidewalk with two guys approaching on a motorcycle without a license plate beside the police anger.
But despite all the movement that can sometimes be dizzying, Max's works show us paths like a Tarkovski Stalker, through the wires that steal energy from the public utility pole or across the sky on the train tracks.
